Blast Off!
July 26, 2016 CGICampers in space and rocketry blasted into the week with a rocket launch. Campers will spend the week exploring the laws of motion and the physics of rocket flight including propulsion, lift, drag, velocity, and aerodynamics. They will apply their knowledge of physics to build a variety of rockets including a water fueled rocket and a solid-fueled rocket. Continue reading

July 25, 2016 CGIThis week and last, future game developers got the chance to bring their video game ideas to life in the two-week long Game Design 101 Platform RPG program. Last week, campers learned how to use a number of software design tools to create Mario-like, platform-style video games. Zoo Sleepover
July 21, 2016 Visual ArtsThe campers in Animal Advocates prepared for the past two weeks to attend an overnight field trip to the Philadelphia Zoo. Every day, educators from the zoo have visited ESF to teach the campers about various types of animals. The main focus of the class is to learn about endangered species, specifically the red panda. Each day the educators bring animals for the campers to encounter and learn fun facts about, it is always the best part of the day. Continue reading
Building Bridges in Creative Problem Solving
July 20, 2016 CGIThe second class of Creative Problem Solving kicked off this week as campers challenge themselves to solve unique problems using critical thinking skills. Each day they will work as a team to encourage collaboration and cooperation. The teams will complete various brain-busting, creative challenges including timed verbal problems, hands-on, building initiatives and exercises aimed at developing diverse methods to solve problems. CSI Forensics
July 20, 2016 CGIFor the past week and a half, campers in CSI Forensics have learned from experts about crime scene procedures. They have taken fingerprints, analyzed blood splatter, made casts and taken photos. All of these processes are required to correctly handle evidence at a crime scene. Today, they looked at their second mock crime scene as they worked as a team to collect and preserve evidence. Continue reading
