Everyone loves to watch sports, butĀ for scientists, they are more than just a fun game to watch. This week, campers learned the technical side of all those stats we see on TV. Batting averages, goals and assists are just the beginning of number-crunching options. Throughout the week, campers learned how stats are used to build winning teams.
Today, the campers headed out to the Philadelphia Union Soccer stadium to observe some soccer play and learn about the physics of kicking and sprinting. They got to watch some pros play and then headed back to the classroom to analyze what they observed. By the end of the week, these campers will be analytical pros!
