Campers participating in the 9th Grade Readiness Program as a part of The Center for Growth and Innovation (CGI) this week are getting a crash course on the best ways to transition to high school. Today, Miss Alyson started everyone off with a self-evaluation test that gave campers an inside look at their social, spatial and organizational strengths and weaknesses as they pertain to schooling.
Using a computer program called ‘Your Learner Sketch,’ campers identified their strengths and weaknesses through short statements about their learning and working habits in the classroom. The program then sorted those preferences and created a graph that explained how campers could move forward and strategize to become better learners in the classroom.
This program is led by Alyson Kurz who is an Upper School Learning Specialist at Episcopal Academy. Alyson has a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Special Education from West Chester University and is completing a Masters in Reading, Writing, and Literacy at the University of Pennsylvania.
