Ever wonder how those catchy and addicting apps on your smartphone were created in the first place? This week, campers participating in the App Design & Development course within The Center for Growth and Innovation (CGI) are learning the entire process form the ground up.
Using a well-known coding program and electronic iPhone Simulator, CGI Counselor Mr. Matt is teaching campers how to build their own apps. Campers started with HTML and coding, learning about patterns and similarities within code that can help them identify different aspects of an application. By understanding the HTML code behind an app, campers can control everything within it. They can change the background image, insert objects, add sound, and even make objects move- all with a variety of coding. So far, campers have built two apps including War and Flappy Birds, and they also created an image search engine on Flickr.
Watch out world – before you know it, ESF campers will be the ones behind the newest app designs!
