How to Investigate a Crime Scene

CSI1

Campers enrolled in the CSI Forensics course as a part of The Center for Growth and Innovation program at ESF Episcopal are learning how to conduct a complete and thorough investigation of a crime scene this week.

CSI2Lead by Terry Louis, a licensed Philadelphia Police Department Crime Scene Investigator, the class aims to teach campers how to properly identify clues and evidence at a live crime scene. Today’s activity revolved around fingerprints. Campers used white note cards and magnetic latent print powder to practice identifying different kinds of fingerprints. They learned the difference between loop, whirl, and circle prints, and how to tell each one apart. Later this week, campers will be learning how to survey a crime scene and photograph evidence, as well as make a cast impression of objective evidence.
