Adventures in Literacy!
Literacy Boost is an educationally dynamic program that is being offered at The Episcopal Academy this summer! The program is specifically designed for children who are currently in prekindergarten to rising third grade. The intent of the camp is to “bridge the gap” for students between grade levels.
Our personalized approach allows us to prepare students for the next grade level through exciting and hands-on learning experiences within a small class setting. Literacy Boost teachers tailor their instruction for every type of learner. The main goal of the camp is to deliver fun, active and engaging curriculum to all students. We meet children where they are and accelerate their learning over the summer.
This exciting program is led by the following individuals:
Jackie Berry, Co-Director
Jackie is a dually certified teacher in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education. In May she will have completed her Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist. Currently, she works as a Literacy Coach at The Episcopal Academy, working with students ranging from PreK to fifth grade. Jackie was a classroom teacher in Fairfax County, Virginia for eight years before she and her husband decided to move their young family back home to Wayne. As a mother of two young children, she understands the importance of setting children up for success with a literacy rich environment over the summer!
Kate Hazelton, Co-Director
