Teen Travel Camp took on a whole new meaning today! After an amazing Outward Bound Insight Adventure in Wissahickon Valley Park, campers gathered for our final “Bandana Ceremony”.
Each camper reflected on the week and took turns talking about their experiences. It was evident that the week was not just about “traveling” at all. Instead, it was about a JOURNEY – one of personal growth; stepping out of our comfort zone; learning how to be a leader and knowing when to follow; discovering how to trust; building self-confidence; and making meaningful new friendships.
It was about 4 ESF Camp Sites coming together at the beginning of the week and leaving as 1 ESF Camp. It was about unity and a bond that will last forever.
As campers boarded their individual Site buses at the end of the day there were tears, smiles and hugs, accompanied by heartfelt promises to see each other again. Same time next year … until then… JOURNEY ON MY FRIENDS!
